Frequently asked questions
What ecommerce platforms can I install Smile on?
Currently, Smile is available exclusively on Shopify, Wix, and BigCommerce.
Do you price based on orders?
Smile's plans and features are built to scale with you as your business grows. While we do include order limits on our plans, we offer flexibility on our higher plans with additional monthly orders at a low cost.
Are there any restrictions on the Free plan?
Our Free plan is a subset of the features offered on our paid plans to help entrepreneurs just getting started. There is a usage limit of 200 orders a month on the Free plan.
How are monthly orders calculated?
Smile calculates monthly orders every 28 days. These include all orders placed at your store. If you exceed the limit for your plan we'll reach out to let you know.
What currency am I billed in?
You will be billed in $USD regardless of where your business is located.
How do overages work?
On our Growth and Plus plan overages are charged once you reach the plan's monthly order limit. Overages will appear in addition to your plan cost on your monthly bill statement.
Does Shopify/BigCommerce count as an integration?
Since Smile is built to be directly connected to your store platform, platforms like Shopify, Wix, and BigCommerce are not considered an integration.
Integrations included on our paid plans refer to this list of third-party apps.
Can customers earn/redeem points in-store through my point-of-sale (POS) system?
If you are using Shopify POS, customers can earn and redeem points in-store on any plan (including the free plan).
Can I move an existing program to Smile?
Absolutely! You can export your customers' existing point balances and easily import them into Smile with a simple CSV file.
Do I have to run all types of programs including points, referral and VIP?
No, you can run any combination of the three programs. However, when all three are used together, they create the most powerful way to build a community.
I have multiple stores. Do you have any deals for subscribing to Smile on all my stores?
Yes! After you subscribe to a paid plan on your first store, contact us via chat or email to discuss pricing options.
If you're subscribed to our Plus plan email help@smile.io for special multi-store pricing to unlock every premium feature across all your stores.
What can I do with API access?
If you have your own development resources, our limited API allows you to do the following:
- Build out custom ways to earn points on your site (e.g. 100 points for filling out an on-site survey).
- Integrate third-party apps (mainly email marketing services or customer support software where a current Smile integration isn't offered).
- Embed certain aspects of the rewards program on your site *(e.g. display a customer's past points earning/spending on their Account page).
